My Process

For me, starting the day with a quiet, peaceful meditation is key. It settles my mind. It helps me remember what is really important in life and what I need to focus on for the day.

Often, I reflect on some of the great artists of the past like Willem de Kooning, Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh, Cy Twombly, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Mark Rothko to name a few. I love the more recent contemporary artists that are less known such as Dominic Besner, Laurent Dorchin, Francesco Cusumano, Almudena Pintado and the like.

ALL forms of artistic expression feed my soul honestly.

Then, it’s time to pick up a paint brush. Glue. Paper. Pencil. iPad. Whatever. Start some kind of creative play time. Sometimes it turns out to be something I like. Sometimes, not so much. But it doesn’t matter. What matters is expressing whatever I am feeling in the art form. Good and bad. Sometimes, it’s less lofty. Sometimes its’ just playtime for my brain. But, it’s ALWAYS therapeutic.

“Creativity takes courage.”
